Fibromyalgia is a disorder of chronic, widespread pain and tenderness. It typically presents in young or middle-aged women but can affect patients of either sex and at any age. Fibromyalgia syndrome may overlap with other pain conditions, as well as anxiety and depression. It can be primary, or secondary to systemic lupus erythematosus rheumatoid arthritis, and chronic hepatitis C infection.
